ISTANBUL - denne fantastiske millionby, der ligger
både i Europa og Asien. Byen rummer officielt ca. 12.mio indbyggere (uofficielt
ca. 15. mio.indb.). Det er en heksekedel af orientalsk larm og liv og kultur.
Istanbul ligger helt fantastisk ved Bosporus strædet og danner en tragt med sine
3 bydele til Sortehavet m.fl.
Sejlturen i såvel den europæiske som asiatiske
del er et must. Det samme er besøget i den blå moské og talrige andre steder.

ISTANBUL - The most important reason
why Istanbul has developed as a world metrolpolis (12 mio. inhabitants) is the
geopolitical location of the city. Istanbul, located wher the 48.north
latitudeand 28. longitude intersect, is the only city in the world which is
established on two continents (Europe and Asia).
The city consists of three
parts in general; On the European side, the Historical Peninsula to the south of
the Golden Horn and the Galata District to the north, and the New City on the
Asian side.
The European side of the city is a trade and business center,
whereas the Asian side is more of a residential area. Istanbul is established on
the both sides of the Bosphorus, which connects the Black Sea and the Sea of
Marmara, and separates Asia and Europe. The 7 km. long narrow inlet, named as
the Golden Horn, divides the European side of the city into two.
This city
is indeed worth more than one trip in lifetime!
