Magnus Wislander

Magnus Wislander, f. 22.02.64 i Gøteborg. Spillede i
sin ungdom for Redbergslid - den berørmte håndboldklub i Gøteborg. Fra 1990
-2002 spillede han i THW Kiel, Tyskland. Rekordhøsten som tophåndboldspiller var
gigantisk: 2 guld, 2 sølv og 2 bronce ved VM, hertil kom 3 sølvmedaljer ved OL
og 4 guldmedaljer ved EM. Han var en af stjernene på det berømte svenske
guldalderhold i 90erne (ført frem af Bengt Johansson).
Han blev til sidst
udnævnt til det 20-århundredes største håndboldspiller af det internationale
håndboldforbund. - Wislander var en sjældenhed. Hans kælenavn i Sverige var
"Max" - i Tyskland "der schlauch" (=slangen). Han var en stor sportsmand og en
altid seværdig håndboldspiller på midten.

Magnus Wislander, b.22.02.64 in Gothenburg, played
in his youth at the famous handballclub Redbergslid in G´borg. From 1990-2002 he
played in Germany - THW Kiel. He was a significant player on the golden-age-team
of Sweden in the 90ties. At WMhe won 2 of gold, silver and bronze. In addition 3
silver at the OL and 4 gold at the European Championship. He was one of the main
stars - brought to the peak by the famous and fabulous coach Bengt Johansson.
Only Russia could match this team in the 90ties.
In 1999 he was appointed by
the International Handball Association as the very best handballplayer in the
whole century. Wislander was a great sportsman and always worth a watch at the
pitch. His kidname in Germany was "der schlauch" (=the snake).
